What is Margin?

Margin is a minimal, fast web browser for iPhone, built on WebKit. It opens to a search with the keyboard up, keeps your tabs in spaces, and archives tabs you haven’t looked at in a while. Margin for Mac is coming.

How do I join the beta?

Margin is in public beta on TestFlight, Apple’s app for testing apps. Open the beta invitation on your iPhone and follow the steps there: it has you get TestFlight from the App Store if you don’t have it, then accept the invitation and install Margin. You’ll need an iPhone running iOS 27 or later.

Joining through the link keeps your name and email address from Connor. The privacy policy lists what TestFlight does share.

How do I report a bug?

While testing, take a screenshot in Margin, tap the thumbnail, tap Done, then tap Share Beta Feedback. Or open TestFlight, choose Margin and tap Send Beta Feedback. Add your email address to the feedback if you’d like a reply.

You can also email hello@marginbrowser.com. Say what you did, what happened and what you expected, and include your iPhone model and iOS version.

How do I get a closed tab back?

Open the tabs panel and tap Archive, which appears once a tab has been closed or put away. Search by title or site, then tap a tab to bring it back.

Why can’t I use Ask?

Ask needs an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence, with Apple Intelligence turned on. If the model is still getting ready, Margin says so. Try again a little later.

How do I go back a page?

Tap Back at the bottom of the tabs panel. To swipe back from the left edge instead, as in Safari, set Left edge to “Go back” in Settings. Ask stays in the tabs panel’s More menu.

Why didn’t a site get my camera or microphone?

Margin asks before a site can use them, and only while you’re looking at that site’s page with nothing of Margin’s over it. A request from another site embedded in the page, or from a tab you’re not looking at, is turned down without asking. If you’ve allowed the site and it still can’t, check that Margin is allowed in Settings › Privacy & Security › Camera, or Microphone.

Can Margin be my default browser?

Not yet. In this beta, links you tap in other apps still open in your default browser.

Where is my data kept?

On your iPhone. The privacy policy covers what stays there and what leaves it.
